Safety update, September 13, 2026: being electric does not make a conventional vented dryer suitable for indoor exhaust. An indoor lint-collection kit is not a substitute for the outdoor exhaust required for a conventional vented dryer.
The Massachusetts residential exhaust chapter adopts the 2021 IRC without amendments. Sections M1502.2 and M1502.3 require dryer exhaust to carry moisture outdoors and terminate outside. Listed and labeled condensing, ductless dryers are a distinct exception. The appliance instructions and applicable requirements must guide any installation. The appliance model and final exhaust arrangement for this historical project have not been verified in this update. The earlier claim that outdoor venting was unnecessary has been withdrawn.
